I’ve had the privilege of working at Carleton University for over two decades, immersed in a community where learning, inquiry and discovery are part of everyday life. There is something truly energizing about being on a university campus — the students’ enthusiasm, their questions and their openness to new ideas. The passion for research, teaching and learning is palpable, and it is inspiring at any age. I firmly believe in the power and value of lifelong learning. The Carleton community is filled with bright minds and rich educational opportunities, offering constant reminders that learning doesn’t end at graduation — it evolves with us throughout our lives. In this edition, we were delighted to welcome Erin Meisner to our Carleton community through her article, Giving with Intention: Strategic Giving — a topic that is especially meaningful to me. As Director of Personal and Planned Giving, I have the privilege of working closely with donors to design gift plans that maximize tax and financial benefits while helping them achieve their philanthropic goals.
